Our Hosts

  • Venue: The Pharmacy

Southern born and raised, gravy runs through my veins. The women that brought me up in my childhood loved to cook and taught me everything I know about Southern comfort food. When I’m not hosting the soothing, sultry sounds of Bridgetown Trivia you can find me in my backyard garden getting into pointless arguments with chickens or harvesting produce and admittedly, feeding most of it to my rabbit.

I moved to Portland in 2016 to teach wilderness and survival skills to children; afterwards I completed multiple sessions as a program leader at Outdoor School. I feel so much passion for the outdoors, and some of my earliest memories were of hunting and fishing alongside my father in the forests of Arkansas.

I believe there’s always room for another chair at the table. If I could host my dream night of trivia, it would be Austin Powers themed, yeah, baby!

  • Ally, a native Portlander, has been a professional smartass, err, trivia host for well over 5 years and been in the hospitality industry longer than she’d like to share. Perpetually living in the ’90s, they still regularly watch ’90s Nickelodeon with an emphasis on the Adventures of Pete & Pete, and will fight you on how well made the show really is. When not in a brain-occupied Wellsville state, she’s a big fan of professional wrestling and is continuing to find new bluegrass and deathcore bands to listen to.

Servant to five animals including two dogs, one cat, and a pair of guinea pigs named after Perry Mason characters.
She and her wife are part of a ’90s themed Dungeons & Dragons podcast called Dungeons and Decades as well as some other ventures!
Come check out one of the nights they’re hosting for good time/queer vibes and a fun mix of fun jams!

  • Venues: Rogue Eastside Pub

As an elementary teacher by day and a role-playing enthusiast by night, I bring a unique blend of nerdy charm and dramatic flair to the trivia table.

While I may not boast a perfect track record in trivia mastery, my passion for engaging with audiences and igniting their curiosity knows no bounds.

Whether it's unraveling the mysteries of history or diving deep into the realms of pop culture, in the classroom and in the pub, I thrive on the energy of the crowd and the thrill of challenging minds. So, let's embark on a journey of knowledge together, where every question is an opportunity for laughter, learning, and maybe even a little friendly competition.

  • Venues: Space Room

They always told me I was goofball, and I wouldn’t get anywhere if I didn’t take things more seriously.

Well look at me now Mrs. Jeffreys from the sixth grade! I guess I DIDN’T need to know what a Punnett square was!

    Take a look! https://www.instagram.com/detective_steak_mcbeans

  • Venues: TBD

A fount of boundless energy, Brian simply wants to make life better and make Everyone’s Job as Easy as Possible.

A bit of a trivia nut, he thinks in pop culture. Like Darmok & Jalad @ Tanagra, everything is metaphor. Yes, that was meta.

    Old enough to know better.
Also old enough to have forgotten why.
And also young enough to think he’s immortal (so far anyway).

Armed with his eclectic playlist, he will do his best to move your night to a higher frequency than where it started πŸ™‚

  • Venues: TBD

Born and raised in a small East Texas town, I never quite felt at home until I landed in Portland for a work trip in 2017. It was like those videos of color-blind people putting on special glassesβ€”I could finally see the world in full color! Portland spoke to my soul, and I made the move without hesitation. Now, at 50, I’m living my best life.

By day, I’m a mortgage broker. By night, I’m the President of Weird Portland United, the one-and-only nonprofit devoted to all things weird. I’m also an artist, host of the podcast Finding My Own Weird, and I moonlight as my alter-ego, Aurelia Stardancer, Portland’s favorite centaur. Above all, I’m Gidgie to one gorgeous granddaughter (with another on the way).

Hosting trivia lets me channel my inner show-off, so get ready for a night of fun, facts, and a little bit of weirdness!

  • Venues: Side Street

Carmen is at the age where she can feel herself getting older every day. Her lower back aches and she finds herself thinking thoughts like, β€œIt’s too loud in here,” or β€œThey just don’t make music like they used to.” She hopes that hosting trivia will bring back the power of youth into her soul.

Carmen is excellent at a lot of things, but most notably: letting bananas go bad, accidentally shrinking new shirts, eating ice cream by the pint, playing Catan and absolutely mopping the floor with her opponents, and sleeping without a pillow (she promises she’s not a serial killer).

She spends a lot of her time wondering why so many people still love Adam Sandler and imagining a better world where the people are united by the music of Creed. Come join her at trivia and no matter what you score, she will welcome you With Arms Wide Open.

  • Venue: My-O-My

Carter has always loved playing trivia, though he struggled to pull together a team from very busy friends.
He has been writing his own questions for years, and when an opportunity to try the other side came through Bridgetown, he couldn’t pass it up.
Still in recovery from a debilitating condition known as β€œbeing from Missouri”, the ex-theatrician turned tradesman moved to Portland in 2021 without ever having seen it.

He loves a good dad joke and giving you terrible hints at trivia.

  • Venues: TBD

Gil was born in Texas but grew up in Illinois. Moving to Portland for work opportunities in 2011, he flourished on the West Coast. Creating marketing videos for the tech industry became his bread and butter. Gil was lucky enough to get flown around the world for his video projects which gave him a taste for travel. Experiencing new places and different cultures is now a top priority!

In Gil's spare time he enjoys going on runs to do laps around the numerous green spaces Portland has to offer. A big fan of video games, Gil spends a lot of time on his SteamDeck playing all sorts of genres of games while his legs heal from jogging. Additionally, he watches dogs for fun and a little bit of extra cash! Also a massive fan of trivia and music, Gil is very excited to work with Bridgetown as a host!

His immediate goals are to stay in running shape, spend more time with friends, and be the best trivia host he can be!

  • Venue: Schilling Cider House

Cecilia is a Florida native who recently uprooted her life to move to the Pacific Northwest. When she’s not living a wild life of managing health insurance projects, she enjoys playing trivia, reading too far into Taylor Swift conspiracy theories, hiking, playing cozy video games, and showering her cats with unwanted attention.

While looking for the perfect balance of free time, an abundance of random facts, and a desire for human interaction, Cecilia ended up hosting trivia–a new venture that is proving challenging and rewarding.

She’s new in town and needs friends. Help a girl out?

  • Venues: TBD

Weirdo fashionista. Cat mom of two. Heather tends to not only lean into, but embraces awkward moments.

Born in the land of DEVO, Macy Gray, and Marylin Manson; raised in the land of REM, B-52's, and Outkast; and landed in the land of The Decemberists, The Dandy Warhols, and Modest Mouse in 2010. She's a closeted aspiring sports fan who knows just a handful of knowledge picked up from her years trying to play hockey and living with a baseball historian college roommate.

She always wants to know who your favorite film score composer is (hers is Mark Mothersbaugh). She'll preach the good news of the 10th Doctor until the day she dies. It's only been within the last two years that she's discovered that she, herself is a trekkie.

Heather has never NOT gotten excited when she gets the Final Jeopardy clue--which has started happening more and more as she ages with wisdom. Becoming a trivia host is fulfilling a lifelong dream (entertaining thoughtful, creative, and interesting people) that she didn't even know she had until the opportunity presented itself. Come out to play and be a part of this dream with her!

  • Venues: TBD

Emily, a relic from the late 1900s, moved to Portland in 2005, sight unseen. A true indoor kid at heart, she enjoys being close to nature but not in it.

Her notable past lives include a High School Theatre Nerd, a Weird Art School Kid, and a Passable Roller Derby Player and Mascot. She currently spends her days as a Personality Hire and tending to her demanding but loveable cat, Suds. (not pictured here)

In her free time, Emily enjoys watching horror movies, roller skating, spending too much time scrolling on her phone, and being right.

A past Bridgetown Trivia player, Emily spent many years on a feisty 2 person team, Hi Hungry, I’m Dad. This was back in the β€œpaper days” when you had to walk your answer sheets to the host, uphill both ways. Her least favorite category was Sports and she misses the drawing round.

  • Venue: TBD

Ian is a native Portlander with rainwater running in his veins and bicycle wheels spinning in his brain. Ian takes pride in sort of playing many instruments and sort of speaking many languages. He’s what you might call an attempted polymath (minus the math). If the sun is out, so is he. And if it’s not, he’s probably playing trivia.

Trivia was always a natural draw for someone who’s favorite subject in school was β€œall of the above” (except math). He’s excited to bring the joys of general knowledge to the masses with abundant helpings of pretentious pronunciation, and tangentially related anecdotes.

  • Venues: TBD

    International Man of Mystery…

  • Venue: No Fun Bar

Jackson is a true trivia enthusiast. He spent his early 20’s on a scrappy team of four, squeaking out second place finishes in a competitive field. Before that, he wrote questions for the regular customers at the pizza place where he worked. And earlier still, he read questions over the PA system in his middle school to the delight of his peers and teachers.

Jackson sees hosting contests with Bridgetown as the culmination of years of dedication to the craft.

A second year transplant to Portland, Jackson enjoys getting to know new people. He would be thrilled to meet you!

  • Venue: Wayfinder SE

Jenni is a fun mix of East Coast and West Coast having spent most of her younger years in New Jersey and her teenage years in Boise, Idaho. The leopard print and the gum chewing followed her from Jersey and the laid-back attitude stuck from living in Idaho and in Oregon for over 10 years. Jenni is a socially anxious social butterfly; she'll talk to anyone but she'll be really nervous about it (but is a ninja about hiding it at this point)! She loves being on the mic but hates it all at the same time - what a dang, Gemini! Shhhhhh don't tell anyone!

Jenni has always considered herself a lifelong learner. If money were no object, she would get degrees forever. But alas, she lives in America so she goes to and hosts trivia instead! A much cheaper option! She is a teacher by day, coercing children into learning things they don't want to learn, and a trivia host by night! Adults are much better listeners and direction-followers than kids, turns out! When she is not doing either of those things, you can find her watching true crime documentaries or trash reality TV, roller skating at Oaks Park, begrudgingly going to the gym, drinking beer on a sunny porch with friends, playing trivia herself, hanging out with her cat, swimming in apartment complexes she does not live in, and dancing the night away.

Jenni is stoked to be part of the Bridgetown team and stoked to be bringing trivia to a bar near you!

  • Venue: TBD

Jo is a 30 year old musician originally from Dayton, OH that has found themselves in Portland after spending two years traveling the country in a van with their wife and two pups. An avid hiker and student of the Universe, Jo enjoys spending their free time outside amongst the trees.

Jo was an occasional trivia attendee in their college days. When they found an ad on pdxpipeline.com during their recent job search for this gig, it seemed to them to be a match made in heaven. Jo is excited to join the team and help to bring some fun and friendly competition to your life!

  • Venue: 503 Distilling

Greetings, fellow trivia enthusiasts! It’s me, Jordan β€” a connoisseur of random knowledge and weird facts. I’m a proud Portland transplant who migrated to this quirky city in 2019 with my lovely wife, our two cats, and our trusty four-legged doggo.

When I’m not crafting everyone’s favorite dad jokes, you can find me obsessing over true crime documentaries (I swear I’m not plotting anything sinister), re-watching The Office for the millionth time (Bears, Beets, Battlestar Galactica), or cooking up a storm in the kitchen (because let’s face it, food is the ultimate love language).

Come play trivia and show me your dog or make me laugh β€” hey you may even get a point or two for it!

  • Venue: Chapel Pub -McMenamins

Hosting trivia one night a week instead of fantasizing about being every host on Game Show Network is probably a healthy step in the right direction, right? That’s what Kara’s therapist tells her at least.

Kara is a non-profit enthusiast by day and a trivia drop-out by night. When she realized her trivia skills were sub-par, but that she was still enticed by it, she decided to host instead!

When she’s not obsessing over Brandon Sanderson novels (and the Cosmere) or watching superhero/sci-fi shows on Netflix, you can find Kara outside with her dog, falling off walls at the rock climbing gym, or in a basement playing nerdy games with her friends.

  • Venue: TBD

Kerry brings a love for movies, video games, and pop culture to every event she hosts. After spending four years in Alaska, where she discovered her passion for hockey, Kerry has made Portland her home. Now playing in a local beer league and joining tournaments in Scotland and Las Vegas, she thrives on the thrill of competition.

Known as the gamer and movie buff in her circle, Kerry loves diving into Disney and film trivia, often sharing random fun facts. You might find them with a Guinness on a night out, or an espresso martini.

When not hosting, she's likely deep into Dragon Age or on a weekly mission to watch every Best Picture winner ever. Join Kerry at trivia for a night of laughs, clever questions, and good company!

  • Venue: TBD

Dolly doesn’t host trivia for the money – he does it because he’s terribly lonely and in need of attention. He’s very insecure. Please be nice to him.

Dolly knew he had to start hosting trivia when he got stage fright and froze up in front of a full church when reading a Bible verse at his grandmother’s funeral. Instead of mourning Mimi, Dolly’s cousins spent the rest of the day mocking him for his cracking voice.

Needless to say, negative attention was better than none, and Dolly knew that embarrassing himself in front of crowds was his ticket out of loneliness.

Dolly enjoys trail running, bad movies, Dune, eating too much, nature and shit, coitus, thrift store shopping, giving really meaningful compliments, telling uncomfortable truths with compassion, extreme weather events, dressing up in revealing costumes because there’s something funny about a half-naked grown man, ambient music, drinking coffee, did somebody say coffee? Good idea. Let’s get some coffee!

Dolly is a very odd person, but he grows on you.

  • Venue: Crux Fermentation Project

Noa is new to hosting trivia; after playing trivia (unsuccessfully) for years, she decided… if you can’t beat them, join them.
Her only claim to fame is being the person on your team that will know the correct answers for the Art category.

Since her move to Portland in 2008, Noa has become quite the outdoorsy person. She spends most of her time paddleboarding (competitively and as an instructor), paddle surfing, rock climbing, and enjoying any time she can in the fresh air. She has also lived in four countries and traveled to over forty. When it’s crummy outside, she does enjoy β€œNetflix and Crafting”.

Noa works for a summer camp as a Marketing Director and is also an Ambassador for Women Who Explore. Her mission in life is to make sure womxn feel safe and comfortable to enjoy everything the outdoors has to offer.

  • Venue: Ringlers

Born and raised here in Portland, Ricky is a filmmaker, musician, and TTRPG lover. They are excited to share good vibes and fun music at their trivia nights!

Ricky works in the film industry as a production sound mixer and video editor as well. (Pssst: https://rickykingfilm.weebly.com)

They're looking forward to getting to know the Bridgetown community and have a fun time!

  • Venue: Wayfinder - The Highlands Carts

Born and raised in Oregon, Rose is still not used to the rain and probably never will be. It’s just so beautiful and icky.

She rightfully thinks all other animals are better than humans, but if she’s forced to interact with people she’d rather do it behind a laptop, telling people they’re wrong through a microphone at top volume.

Rose is probably the most anxious laid-back person you’ll ever meet. She knows nothing matters because we’re all just living in a simulation . . . but if that’s all we are, doesn’t everything matter TOO MUCH??

  • Venues: Church Bar

An only child raised on a healthy dose of Jeopardy!, Mel Brooks movies, and Star Trek; Stephanie has found a great joy in trivia hosting because she gets to be the center of attention while cosplaying Alex Trebek and entertaining the audience with nerdy comedic relief.

When not hosting trivia, Stephanie can be found posted up at various breweries with her corgi, Nigel. She also is learning German, reads voraciously, and can tell you the name of any X-Files episode with minimal details.

  • Venue: Smitty's Taphouse

It's a point of absurd pride for Tristan that he moved to Portland in 2014 having never seen a single episode of Portlandia before or since. After settling into the city, he quickly became a semi-regular trivia participant at various local bars, often competing as the one-man team, "Geralt of Trivia" (a joke nobody ever got and likely never will). Now he's jumping back into the trivia scene as a host!

A literal basement-dweller--it's worth the discount on rent--when he's not working in restaurants to pay the bills, Tristan enjoys playing indie games, watching video essays, tinkering with computers and producing anti-capitalist memes. Also a part-time community advocate trying to get more people to ride the dang bus, Tristan promises not to use this soapbox for anything but hosting trivia... mostly.

  • Wes is a 20-something who is hosting with Bridgetown Trivia to fulfill his lifelong dream of being a sexy game show host, much like Bob Barker (current day, not younger Bob).

He enjoys bringing home stray animals, fried potatoes and dressing up like a banana. He is currently back in school to design roller coasters. Eventually he plans to build one that launches him so far into space that the threat of nuclear war won’t affect him (and for 9 easy payments of just $85.99, YOU can hitch a ride, too!)

His favorite thing to do is be with friends, regardless of the activity. If you want to win his heart, the best way to do that is to write him a check for $1m, slip it under his door, and never contact him again.

He hopes to see your beautiful face at trivia soon!
